GAAC Exhibits at Private Flyer 2022

The General Aviation Awareness Council exhibited at the Private Flyer event held at Booker Airfield (Wycombe Air Park), 13-14 May 2022.

The event was held by Elite Events alongside the British Golf Show and included a fly-in with aircraft arriving from all over the UK, and a gathering of Classic Cars.

After a cloudy start on the Friday which put off many pilots, the weather improved in the afternoon and there were good visitor numbers, as news broke that the AeroExpo 2022 event at Kemble had been cancelled the day before. It was due to take place 16-18 June and fell victim to the hangar which was to be used for the exhibition hall not being available any more.

With ZeroAvia having its research aircraft at the back of the hangar, it insisted on being able to take the aircraft out on the dates set for the event, and organisers were unable to resolve the problem and had no choice but to cancel the event.

This means the next GA show is Private Flyer Leeds, at Leeds East Airport, 1-2 July 2022. Then 2-4 September will see the LAA meet at Popham Airfield for its main event of the year. The ‘LAA Grass Roots Fly-In’ has been arranged instead of the usual LAA Rally, which prior to Covid-19 had taken place at Sywell Aerodrome. The LAA had intended to also have a ‘Meet the LAA’ event at AeroExpo, now cancelled.

The GAAC AGM will still take place on Friday 17th June 2022 at 11.00 but this will be at its HQ at Turweston Airfield, kindly hosted by the LAA, which is one of the main supporting associations of the GAAC.
